We live today in a single global village. A world made significantly smaller through globalization. The Internet has made a person halfway around the world, no further than a mouse-click away, appointing the computer, the communications flagship of present time. So it is to no surprise that the Internet population, and the number of transactions which occur through the Internet, have both skyrocketed in recent years. The potential for e-commerce in today?s computer driven society is truly staggering. With the majority of large businesses already online, and the more and more who trade the confines of their little store on Mainstreet, for the boundless walls of the web each day, the internet has quickly become one of the most powerful selling tools in the corporate belt. Small businesses too, benefit from the vast resources of the web. The Internet has allowed countless local businesses to become global overnight. It is now possible to lead one?s entire life from within a single room, a concept unimaginable just a short time ago. Education, personal income, purchasing, banking socializing, and yes, even sex, can all be accomplished with a PC and a modem. The future of the computer industry is a long and winding road far to complex for most to comprehend. Instead, the majority of us can only sit and wait while scientists, programmers, and technicians produce faster, smatter computers designed to make our lives a little more organized, a little more efficient, and hopefully, a whole lot easier. | |||||||||||||||||
